It’s Studio Hoopla’s six-year anniversary!

Like any spirited six-year-old, we spent our early days learning, experimenting, occasionally making a mess, and always asking why.

Running a creative studio isn’t always smooth sailing (looking at you, global pandemic), but it’s taught us a thing or two about creativity, clients and building something that lasts.

Here are 6 things we’ve learned in 6 years of running a creative agency:

🪂 You can jump without a net. No clients? No problems. Well, not quite. But if you wait for the perfect time, it may never come. We started with a vision and figured out the rest.

🧔🏻 Expect the unexpected. “I don’t like men with beards” is actual image feedback we received from a client. After decades in the industry, you’ll think you’ve heard it all. You haven’t.

🎧 Co-working spaces aren’t for everyone. We tried it. Turns out, noise-cancelling headphones don’t cancel out recruiters pacing on sales calls.

🏃‍♀️ One job becomes five jobs. We’re busier than ever, yet somehow it feels like we’re achieving less each day. Being productive doesn’t look the same anymore. And that’s okay.

💍 From friend zone to work wife. We’re in each other’s pockets five days a week, 12 months a year, for 6 years, and we’re still good mates. A business partner is not just for Christmas, so choose wisely.

⏳ The clock is not your friend. Running a business is like a never-ending packet of Tim Tams, except the Tim Tams are your to-dos. Your biggest challenge will be getting it all done.

To everyone who’s backed us, briefed us, or believed in us — thank you. It takes a village, and ours is pretty ace.
