A freshly minted brand and a new approach to reporting presented the unique opportunity to reinvent this document. Brand, problem-solving, care and coffee guided every page.
U Ethical, recognised as one of Australia’s largest ethical investment managers, actively seeks to shape a better future by constructing portfolios based on their values and delivering competitive market returns. As a social enterprise, a significant portion of its operating surplus is dedicated to social justice advocacy and community programs. It’s what they call “investing with purpose.”
U Ethical Annual Sustainability Report
Creating good work for good organisations is, well, about as good as it gets. In 2019, we partnered with U Ethical on their Annual Sustainability Report for their shareholders. This brief had some knotty design problems we love to solve — a new brand that lived in theory, some brand gaps to solve, plus a new approach to content and reporting style. From the outset, we knew this report would look completely different from the previous year.
As the first comprehensive document post-rebrand, preserving brand integrity was paramount. While faithfully applying styles from their brand guidelines, we also expanded upon their brand with innovative layouts, chart styles, and infographics tailored to their content. Implementing a clear navigation system and a robust hierarchy enhanced readability and structure. We aligned with our client’s brand purpose and opted to print with vegetable-based inks and recycled paper. The success of our initial collaboration in 2019 resonated profoundly, leading to us joining forces again to deliver subsequent reports.
